Farewell Tucson!

sunny 75 °F

It's with many mixed feelings that after nearly 2 months in Arizona, we are moving on. Time to get back to "Season Reality". After 2 months of "Summer", it's hard to believe we may still encounter winter. The sunshine and blue skies has been wonderful. Although the 90 degree weather was unseasonably warm for Arizona, the current 70's has been very nice.
After aprox 20 days at the downtown Tucson RV Park, Bob discovered a beautiful State Park to the north of Tucson at the base of the Catalina Mountains--absolutely beautiful-------and no trains! Many hiking trails, horse trails, and tons of birds. My hummingbird feeder has drawn a constant crowd, even a bunch of unside down woodpeckers! We've even seen Roadrunners come through our site. Hattie has encountered Jack rabbits bigger than she is. Their ears are nearly a foot long--or should I say high, as they go straight up, and a bushy white tail as big as a grapefruit. Basically, you spot the ears in the grass- then eventually the bunny. We've heard the cyotes once here, but what an eerie sound. Grandma E continues to warn us of rattlesnakes and tarantulas, but have not spotted a nasty creature other than in the museum.
We've discovered some awesome Mexican food. Each time wishing we could share it with visitors. How bout it, guys?
On the other hand, we really miss everyone. We're anxious to see everyone and get back into some sort of routine. After all, we've got a wedding to arrange--lots of fun tasks.
Today we're heading for Silver City, NM, an old silver mining town. Then on down to Deming, New Mexico--a well known "Rock" town, and I'm not talking music. There's a big rock and gem show at the fairgrounds this weekend. They also grow pecans there. I'm glad we visited Mexico earlier on our trip---before the drug cartels started shooting it out down there. We were going to cross over from Deming. We'll head across the southern U.S.-hoping to escape tornados, ice and snow until we get directly below Wisconsin- where we'll head north for a very special 4th birthday party and lots of little hugs. Time to pack it up and start heading east. Miss and love you all, MA
